A greenhouse is a necessary building for every summer resident who wants to have a good and plentiful harvest throughout the year. How to build a polycarbonate greenhouse yourself

You should always start from the location of the structure. We wrote about this in our previous publications. The next point in the algorithm of work is the project - we have a construction drawing and a detailed estimate for materials.

It will not be entirely correct to give an example of calculating materials and prices without knowing the dimensions, area, height, characteristics of the material and other data, so we will leave the drawing up of the drawing and budget to each reader individually. Foundation of the building

Under the polycarbonate greenhouse, the foundation is required without fail. It is done so that the heavy structure and cover do not sink to the ground - this can destroy the building.

According to your own drawing, determine the shape of the greenhouse. Most often this is a 3 x 6 m rectangle, up to 2.5 m high - that's where you need to fill the foundation along the perimeter of 3 x 6 m. Everything is as usual: standard depth, foundation width for such dimensions, laying of the “pillow” and filling. You can, of course, also reinforce the foundation - this will increase its strength and stability of the greenhouse. And if you conceived a larger and reinforced structure, then reinforcing the foundation and bringing the rails outward are generally mandatory.


Installation of the greenhouse frame

Installation begins with installation on the foundation of the supporting frame. It can be steel, aluminum or mounting profile. It is best to set the frame more complex and durable, designed for more weight to be safe. Remember that after the main bearing parts of the structure, it is also necessary to provide stiffeners, which can be fixed on ordinary screws. Be sure to include in the frame the doors and a window leaf opposite - this is necessary for ventilating the greenhouse in the future. The step between the crate should be minimal, this will provide additional reliability and uniformity of design.

Cutting polycarbonate and installation on the frame

Having determined the size of the structure, filling the foundation and installing a frame on it, you should do the covering of the greenhouse. The process is time-consuming, but not very complicated, especially if everything is done according to the instructions. When cutting the material selected for coating, it is necessary to take into account its standard size. This will help to save a little on waste and panel residues. You can open polycarbonate sheets with a circular saw or a jigsaw, having previously measured it. After cutting, mark the fasteners and drill the mounting holes. Then you can start the installation.

The assembly of the structure occurs by fixing on the frame special profiles and the polycarbonate panels themselves. For this, fasteners with gaskets, thermowells and thermowell covers are used. Self-tapping screws are selected for a few millimeters of larger diameter than the mounting hole. After tightly installing the panels and panel parts on the frame, it is required to ensure tightness and thermal insulation. This can be done using a special self-adhesive and perforated tape, which is available at any hardware store.

Which polycarbonate to choose

Now that we have figured out the process of building a greenhouse, it remains to establish only one thing: what type of polycarbonate to use. The answer is only one: a standard cellular thickness you need. It perfectly retains all the necessary qualities and is easy to install, transmits light and bends perfectly, does not require rigid frames and easily withstands humidity and temperature extremes.

It is also worth using profiled polycarbonate, which is necessary when installing a cell.
